Danielle C. King, Esq. is an experienced attorney and policy advocate. Danielle (Danny) focuses on litigation and policy advocacy at the federal and state level in the areas of Family law, Criminal law, Tax law and LGBTQ+ Rights.
Danielle (Danny) from 2022-2025, served as Senior Youth Policy Counsel at the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), where they engaged in policy advocacy, coalition building and amicus brief support on behalf of LGBTQ+ youth and youth of color in child welfare, juvenile justice, education and data privacy. As Senior Youth Policy Counsel, Danielle (Danny) engaged in legislative meetings with various state legislative officials and invite-only meetings on the federal level with officials from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children & Families. Danielle (Danny) from 2021-2022, also served as Gender Equality Attorney at NCLR where they engaged in legal research and training, assisted in amicus brief support, technical support and tracked nationwide litigation related to sex discrimination post the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Bostock v. Clayton County.
Danielle (Danny) previously was a Staff Attorney in the Community Justice Unit in the Criminal Defense Practice at the Legal Aid Society providing legal support to community organization members in a variety of legal matters such as child support, custody/visitation, birth certificate corrections and criminal surrenders as well as conducting "Know Your Rights" trainings and helping lead the pre-arraignment criminal court diversion program, Project Reset, in Queens County. Danielle (Danny) also served for multiple years as an Attorney for the Child in the Juvenile Rights Practice at the Legal Aid Society, where they represented youth between the ages of 0-21 in abuse and neglect proceedings as well as juvenile delinquency arraignments in NYC Family court.
In addition to their trial experience, Danielle (Danny) has conducted numerous CLE trainings and presentations on the issues LGBTQ+ youth and youth of color face in the Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice systems and how race, class, and culture affect the reasons why BIPOC children and families are disproportionately brought into various court legal systems.
Danielle (Danny) served as Co-chair of the New York City Bar Association's LGBTQ Rights Committee from 2020-2023 and LGBTQ+ Caucus Representative for Association of Legal Aid Attorneys (ALAA) of UAW 2325 from 2018-2020. Danielle (Danny) also currently has been on the Legal Track Committee for the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference since 2022.
Danielle (Danny) obtained a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law (2016), an M.A. in Urban Affairs from CUNY-Queens College (2012), and a B.A. in English from Michigan State University (2009).
